Lisa Serevena visits the Learning Lounge

Careers - Toot Hill School's students explore the Radiographer profession... (Learning Lounge - 21/01/2019)

During KS3 lunctime on Monday 21st of January 2019, Toot Hill School's Learning Lounge was visited by Lisa Serevena. Lisa is a Diagnostic Radiographer at QMC and a S.T.E.M ambassador. Lisa brought with her a lead vest, bones, x-rays and a presentation to inspire our students. They learnt all about getting a job in healthcare and more about what radiographers do; from X-Rays to Ultra Sounds.

They also found out that there is a shortage of Radiographers world wide and the job has many applications and allows you travel all over the world. Lisa also said becomming a Radiographer would be getting easier as those who may not have the necessary A-Levels will soon be able to apply for apprentiships to start their career in Radiography.

It was amazing to have invited Lisa to our library and have her inspire the next generation of scientists, healthcare workers and thinkers. The students loved trying on the gear and diagnosing what was happening in each X-Ray.
