Another year of great A-Level results
Students at Toot Hill College were today celebrating another year of fabulous A-Level results.
Once again an average B grade was achieved by students at Toot Hill, who had the pick of 36 different subjects across A-Level and BTEC.
Among the highest achievers was Josh Grant, who achieved three A*s and will be moving to the University of Birmingham to study Mathematics in September.
Josh said:
“I’m delighted with my results and am thankful for all the support of my teachers at Toot Hill. I can’t wait for university and the future ahead of me.”
Other high achievers included Ashley Carrington, Olivia Sadler, Joe Marshall, Oisin Castro, Nathan Watson and Jack Smylie, who all secured A*s.
Olivia, who has secured a place at the University of Nottingham, said:
“I’m in so much shock! I can’t believe it!”
Joe, who will be going on to study Economics at LSE, commented:
“I’m delighted to be able to study at my dream university and I’d like to thank all my Toot Hill teachers for their amazing support.”
Another student, Michael Baker, who has Autistic Spectrum Disorder and had to resit Year 12, secured Distinction* Distinction in BTEC Applied Science and will now be doing foundation year Life Sciences at the University of Lincoln.
Michael said:
“Studying at Toot Hill has been a pleasure. I have built so many great relationships with people who I will remember for the rest of my life.”
Max Carrington-Hayward also achieved Distinction* Distinction*, as well as a grade B, and will be studying Business at the University of Leeds.
“I’m delighted that my hard work has paid off and I’m so excited to go to Leeds,” Max said.
Sandy Paley, Head of School, commented:
“This year our students sat the final tranche of the new, more rigorous A-Level specifications being introduced over the past three years, in subjects such as Maths, Law and Psychology.
Our students have secured strong achievement in all new courses as part of the suite of 36 A-Level and vocational courses offered at our college. This breath of offer enables all students to personalise their learning pathway, choosing unique subject combinations to ensure they are allowed to follow their passion and secure great results.
This year we have seen outstanding successes in both traditional A-Level courses, as well as combinations of A-Level and vocational courses.”
Philippa Coates, Head of College, added:
“I am delighted that our students’ results reflect the hard work and dedication they have put in over the last two years at Toot Hill College.
Congratulations to all of our students but in particular to our boys this year who have truly excelled in their A-Level courses!”
