Sandy Paley, Head of School, commented:

"GCSE results this year are amongst the best ever achieved at Toot Hill School and the progress students have made is truly outstanding. These outcomes are testament to the dedication of our students, their parents and the staff who teach and support them.

“Headline figures are only part of the story though. I am absolutely delighted for each and every one of our Year 11s who have come so far since they joined us five years ago.

“It is with real pride that I wish all our students the very best as they continue with us at Toot Hill College or move on to further education and training elsewhere."

Ash Rahman, Executive Head Teacher, added:

"It has been a real privilege to work with such a talented group of students and staff this year. The determination, drive and high expectations of students and staff have led to these phenomenal results and will I am sure, inspire others to aim high, work hard and enjoy similar success in the future.

“Over the last few years Toot Hill School has consistently delivered the best results in the county and I would like to thank parents, the governing body and local community for their continued support which is so critical to the success of our students."

Not content with raising thousands of pounds for charity, Toot Hill students, Katie Pownall and Toby Petchell have now turned their attention to success in their GCSE exams. Earlier in the school year Katie raised £1,200 through the National Citizen Service while Toby was able to present a cheque to Cancer Research alongside the Mayor of Bingham as a result of his fundraising efforts. Both students have done very well in this summers GCSE exams.

Katie, aged 16, has achieved A, B and C grades and is planning to go and do Business, Sociology, Marketing and ICT at Toot Hill College in September. Katie has combined studying for her GCSE’s with raising money for Nottinghamshire Hospice by doing a skydive as part of the NCS programme.

She commented:

"I was really nervous about getting my results but I did much better than I thought I would. Doing the skydive and NCS really helped take my mind off results day!"

Toby, aged 16, raised over £650 for Cancer Research earlier through doing a 15 mile run and has also achieved his desired GCSE results he now plans to go to Toot Hill College in September:

"I came into school every Saturday to do extra Maths lessons. I got so much support and it just goes to show that hard work really does pay off.

"Doing the charity run was an escape. I had a tough start to the year and raising money for Cancer Research was something I'm really proud of"
