We have had an assembly today to emphasis to students that they must have their blazers on and should be wearing correct school shoes and not trainers, with this in mind please ensure your child comes to school with the correct uniform including ties and shoes as after half term failure to do so will result in sanctions. Thank you for your ongoing support.

We wish you and your families a safe and wonderful half term break. Next half term begins Monday 21 February 2022
We have managed to cram so much into this half term and it was wonderful to finish with a brilliant Achievement Assembly from Miss Jordan. We managed to celebrate attendance for this half term, credits, stars of the lesson, attendance to Extended Study in addition to our two Head of Year nominations.
In tutor period and RSHE this week students have looked at the topics of mental wellbeing and harassment which has instigated some amazing discussions and been very informative.
The Year 7 boys football team played their first fixture of the half term and managed to achieve a 4-0 quarter final win in the South Notts Cup where they now progress into the semi-final to play West Bridgford.
Well done Year 7, enjoy the half term break!!
Head of Year 7: Mr D Mordue Assistant Head of Year 7: Miss L Jordan
Well done Year 8 on a fantastic last week of half term! We have lots of positive news to share this week. This week we had our end of half term Achievement Assembly. In total we have given out 500 prizes! This is a refection of the hard work and determination shown by our Year 8 students every day! Students have been recognised in our assembly for:
Well done to all students who received an award. A special mention to Amy (8.9) who was third place in the year group for credits (130 positive points), Mia (8.2) who was second place (241 positive points) and Grace (8.9) who was first place with 342 positive points! Well done! It was fantastic to see so many students being recognised for achieving ‘Star of the Lesson’ this half term. Well done to Max (8.3) who achieved 14 Stars of the Lesson this half term! Luke (8.10) attended the most Extended Study sessions this half term!
We also spend time celebrating student attendance this half term and we have recognised students for:
It was great to have so many students included in these categories. We have spent time in tutor set speaking to students about attendance and we were pleased to see students putting in a lot of effort to achieve these awards.
We continued to be amazed by the fantastic work our Year 8 students produce in lessons and we have shared some examples of excellent work on our Year 8 Twitter Account (@TootHill2025). We have also shared some photos from our Achievement Celebrations on our Twitter Account too.
Finally, thank you to parents/carers for your continued support this half term. We are proud of the start that Year 8 have made to 2022 and we are excited to see what they can achieve this year!
We wish students and their families and safe and enjoyable half term break.
Head of Year 8: Miss I Sheldon
Year 9 have had a fantastic week and it has been wonderful visit Year 9s in Art recently to see their current creative project progressing. This week we were able to see the final product - look at the printed bird houses they have created, such beautiful colours and expressive shapes!
We also enjoyed a really informative assembly from Mr Garner this week, hearing all about the GCSE Options process and the different KS4 pathways. Please ensure that the form is filled in by the deadline, and that students think really carefully about both their first choices and their back-up options. I'm looking forward to seeing how students find the taster sessions during the first week back. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with the tutor team if you have any questions.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we will have to defer celebrating the Year 9 success during this half term in an Achievement Assembly after the half term break. However please expect communication from the year team if your child has been recognised for their achievements. We have focused on the 'be kind' element of our ethos and attendance and look forward to awarding our winning tutor sets with a celebration breakfast soon.
Finally, please ensure uniform and equipment is ready for starting back with us and have a wonderful, restful half term break.
Head of Year 9: Mrs L Munro Assistant Head of Year 9: Miss C Thomas
It has been a short, but jam-packed full half term for Year 10. Our students have maturely discussed some challenging RSE topics on consent, drugs, and teenage pregnancies during tutor time. Taken up opportunities to widen their cultural capital with the Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award, increased attendance at Extended Study and signed up to career trips after half term.
After half term, our Year 10 students will have the chance to go to Brackenhurst College. Please contact Mrs Farmer (ffarmer@toothillschool.co.uk) if your child is interested in attending this agricultural and equestrian higher and further education institution.
Upon our return, we will continue to focus time to finalise Work Experience placements. So please do use the half term break to look up potential employers.
The Year 10 Team wish you and all of our excellent Year 10 students a wonderful half term break. See you all refreshed in just over a week.
Head of Year 10: Mr R Wickens Achievement Coordinator: Mrs C Hallam
As we hit the 15-week mark for Year 11 we took the time to celebrate this half terms achievement with a particular focus on students who have demonstrated an outstanding attitude to both their lessons and home learning. We have also celebrated the success of students who received the most 'Star Student' in their lessons.
In tutor time this week we have focussed on how to be successful in Maths, examination procedures and we also were joined by NCS to promote their summer program. We are incredibly proud of the students who have signed up or registered their interest to get involved in some active citizenship over the summer break.
Year 11 students have received their final mock examination timetable and revision lists in their subjects to support them in structuring their revision and home learning.
We hope you all have a well-rested half term break, ready to work hard in the run up to GCSE exams.
Well done year 11!
