This week we want to congratulate students on their maturity and resilience in the horrible weather conditions. Students have been very supportive and understanding of others, at times offering help and advice, when they have found it harder to concentrate.
In addition, Year 7 continue to impress the wider school community. This week we have had various members of the public contacting Miss Marshall to say how fantastic and well-mannered Year 7 students are in Bingham.
During the morning PowerPoints, students have been talking about the upcoming events in Science and Maths. There is a science competition to bake and design the best themed cake with a brief explanation of how the theme was chosen and how it connects to science. Entries all to be handed in on Friday 17th March. Then in maths there is a competition to see who can recite pie to the most decimal places, the winners will be given Amazon gift cards. This will take place on Tuesday 14th March during lunch time. We hope lots of Year 7 students will get involved.
Finally, in exciting news, we have a non-uniform day on Friday 17th March to raise funds and awareness for Comic Relief. Students will be learning more about the incredible projects during tutor time. We ask that students donate £1 to wear non-uniform on this day and all donations will go directly to Comic Relief.

This week Year 8 have had some time on Monday with their tutor to go over their attendance and credit figures, hopefully we have lots of students who are approaching the 400 or 600 credit milestones to claim their Bronze and Silver awards before Easter.
Tuesday there was an assembly from Mrs Farmer regarding careers and how students can use Unifrog to track their skills and ambitions.
On Well Being Wednesday students discussed the differences between sympathy and empathy and tutors guided them in some really meaningful discussions.
Thursday was our class reading time, as tutor groups reach the end of their books we have some new and exciting resources and tasks planned for the near future that will foster a lifelong love of reading.
The Year 8 Girls football team played this week and narrowly lost 5-3 in a keenly contested game. The boys team play their quarter final at home vs Chilwell Tuesday 14th March at 3:15pm.
Please help to support students at home by checking they have all of the basic items needed for school in their bag including planner, stationary, PE kit etc as well as wearing a coat during the cold weather.

Well done Year 9. We continue to be impressed with the hard work and determination shown in Year 9, with students achieving another 3424 positive points this week. During tutor time this week, students have reflected on the 9.2 school reports. We are proud of the school reports with over 70 students achieving an average Attitude to Learning Score of 5 or above. This is a fantastic achievement and we look forward to recognising students for their positive reports in our Easter Achievement Assembly. The Personal Development lesson focused on Long Term Committed Relationships. Students discussed what is meant by ‘marriage’, ‘civil partnership’ and ‘cohabitation’. Students showed maturity when discussing a range of scenarios and they asked excellent questions throughout the lesson.
A massive well done to our Level 1 Sports Leaders. On Tuesday we hosted a Year 5/6 Primary School Sports Festival which some of our leaders were involved in. The leaders have been working hard to plan a fun and engaging invasion game to deliver to the primary school students. The students were fantastic and should be very proud of how well they represented school. Their communication and confidence was great and the primary school students clearly enjoyed working with our Level 1 Sports leaders. The feedback we have received from the primary schools has been excellent and we look forward to seeing the sessions again on Tuesday evening. Well done to all students involved!
We continue to celebrate students’ achievements each week. It is fantastic to see students working hard during the week to achieve positive points. Well done to the following students:

100% Attendance Prize Draw:
We are continuing to see many Year 9 students achieve the Bronze, Silver and Gold awards for their positive behaviour points. Well done to the following students who achieved an award this wek:

Thank you for your support with the Key Stage 4 Options process. Students have until 20th March to complete the options form and we encourage students to speak to class teachers and tutors if they need any guidance on this.
Well done Year 9, an excellent week, keep it up!

We were thrilled to be able to promote and deliver another great STEM opportunity for Year 10 this week. Farrans, who are the Civil Engineering contractor on the A52 construction site, invited 12 Year 10 students to see the site and talk about careers in the sector. Our students represented themselves extremely well and shared positive feedback about the day. Farrans themselves commented that "the students were fantastic and some of the questions they posed were really intelligent and thoughtful. They were extremely well behaved and incredibly polite and engaged - they were an absolute testament to the school. There seemed to be some positive interest in engineering amongst the group, which is great to see!" Please keep an eye out for future STEM opportunities.
Year 10 Progress Check Reports have been released this week and can be accessed online. Please log into the Bromcom/MCAS app to view this and contact your child's tutor if you need support logging in. The school ID number is 11553 if you need it to access the report. We will be distributing hard copies during active tutoring next week alongside activities for students to reflect on their report and their next steps for the next part of this academic year.
Head of Year 10: Mrs L Munro
Assistant Head of Year 10: Miss C Thomas
We would like to a say a huge well done to Year 11s as their exams draw to a close this week. With the exception of those students who have a catch-up paper, the year group have finished their mocks and have worked incredibly hard throughout.
There continues to be careers interviews next week and the times for these have been shared with any students who have not had their interviews, during tutor set this week.
Over the next few weeks the Year 11 have some key dates coming up, including the catering exam, mock language speaking exams and the music compositions.
Please chat with your child at home regarding these, and if they need any support then please let tutors know.
Head of Year 11: Miss L Hughes
Year 11 Achievement Leader: Mr R Wickens
Assessor's Reports
At this stage of the year, it is fantastic to see so many assessor's reports coming in. Once students have completed an activity, be it skill, physical or volunteering, they should send their assessor this weblink - www.dofe.org/assessor/ - and ask them to write an assessor's report. The report is electronically sent directly to me to approve and then onto our external verifier. We strongly encourage all students to proactively seek their assessor reports so that they can graduate with their Award this summer!
Congratulations to Bronze participants Bethan A, George B, Ellis C, Yue Kei C, Owen D, Charles D, Joe G, Lewis H-T, Ryan K, Ellis L, Isabel R, Josh R, Isabelle S, Bethany V and Phoebe W who have obtained an assessor's report already!
Photos of the Week - Physical
Since recent bulletins have focussed on the skill and volunteering sections, I thought this week we would highlight some of the physical activities our students are participating in. Here is Megan C canoeing at Holme Pierrepont, Teo S rock climbing at YMCA Newark and Elliot P free-running. Well done everyone!
